British Red Cross Fundraising Event 2024

We were honored to be contracted by the British Red Cross (BRC) to deliver lighting, video, and sound solutions for their recent fundraising event at The Stables in London. This impactful event highlighted the humanitarian response in war zones and showcased the vital work made possible by BRC donations.

Our delivery was divided into three key areas:

1. Entrance Lighting

We created a striking entrance experience with red lighting and custom gobos, which transformed the tunnel leading into the venue. This bold visual design set the tone for the evening and immersed guests in the event’s theme from the moment they arrived.

At the heart of the entrance display was a Red Cross 4×4 ambulance, symbolizing the critical equipment funded by donations. To ensure this centerpiece stood out, we deployed our SGM P6 wash lights in a 360-degree arrangement, drawing attention to the vehicle and underscoring the importance of the cause.

2. Immersive Venue Experience

Inside, the venue was divided into zones, each showcasing different aspects of the British Red Cross’s global efforts. Artists Stephen Dobbie and Colin Nightingale created an immersive soundscape that flowed seamlessly across the space. This bespoke audio design enriched each zone’s mood while maintaining consistency throughout the exhibition.

A key feature downstairs was a warzone respite tent, brought to life with carefully curated lighting and projection. This space, synchronized with the overarching soundscape, allowed guests to engage deeply with the content.

To support this intricate setup, we provided a D&B audio system running 16 audio channels across two floors, managed via a complex Dante network. Using QLab, we distributed audio precisely to each speaker and synchronized timecode and video playback for a cohesive AV experience.

3. Interactive Digital Globe

We also developed an interactive digital globe, built entirely in-house, which allowed guests to explore BRC’s work worldwide. This 3D touch-screen experience enabled attendees to select specific regions and view video content showcasing the incredible impact of donations.

Our in-house coding approach ensured the interactive globe was tailored to the event’s needs, offering a cost-effective solution compared to outsourcing. This flexibility also allows us to provide custom environments optimised for specific events—a capability we’ll detail further in a future post.

Conclusion

It was a privilege to contribute to such a meaningful event, blending creativity and technical expertise to deliver a fully immersive experience. Working alongside a visionary team and a cause as vital as the British Red Cross made this project truly special.
